For Sale: AIRLIA - $128,000
NorthPoint Charter AIRLIA AIRLIA is a fully found off-shore cutter rigged sailboat currently laid up at Bucklers Hard, Beaulieu River. The hull was built in Canada in 1975, completed by a professional boat builder to high standards and launched in 1980. AIRLIA is hull #10 of approximately 50 built, and has a number of custom construction features which set her apart from other GRP cruising sailboats. She has robust scantlings and is immensely strong with a very sea kindly hull, long keel, attractive sheer and clean deck with small deck house and low trunk cabin.

AIRLIA sailed in the Atlantic, and circumnavigated in the late 80's and early 90's, since then she has cruised New England and in 2004 sailed from Massachusetts to the Azores, Ireland, Scotland and England. She cruised in Brittany and S. England in 2005 and sailed back from Bucklers Hard, England to Martha's Vineyard in June of 2006 in a trouble free passage via the Azores. Designed by Pierre Meunier, the hull was built in Canada in 1975, completed by a professional boat builder to high standards and launched in New England in 1980. AIRLIA is hull #10 of approximately 50 built, and has a number of custom construction features which set her apart from and of a higher quality than other GRP cruising sailboats. She has robust scantlings and is immensely strong with a very sea kindly hull, long keel, attractive sheer and clean deck with small deck house and low trunk cabin. She is comfortable at sea and in port, and underwent an extensive refit in 2004 before the transatlantic passage. The guiding principle was to keep all systems safe, reliable, simple to operate and maintain by a couple.

AIRLIA combines traditional appearance, extraordinary sea keeping ability, excellent sailing characteristics, bullet proof construction and systems with an attractive, comfortable three cabin layout (sleeps 7). She has safe and comfortable cockpit, a sea going galley with new marine propane stove (solenoid, 3 burners/oven) and large insulated ice box plus double SS sinks; two heads, a nav station, and generous salon plus sea berths and voluminous storage in lockers, bins and drawers. She comes with an exceptionally complete inventory of new safety equipment, heavy ground tackle (electric windlass and wash down pump/auxiliary bilge pump), sails in good condition (including new main 2005), and storm sails, an ARIES self steering vane, tools and spares, household equipment, navigational equipment, a Dyer sailing dinghy and a 2004 Zodiac with 2.2 hp outboard, all in excellent condition. The refit extended to the engine and engine controls, electrical system and batteries, salt and fresh water systems, seacocks, steering cables, life lines, and custom cabinetry. AIRLIA has five independent water tanks holding 250 gallons fresh water, one tank holding 85 gallons fuel, and a small holding tank. Both marine toilets have been rebuilt (2006) and all the safety equipment is up to date. AIRLIA has a solar panel which efficiently charges the batteries, a boom gallows and a cockpit dodger. In the late 90's she was treated with an anti osmotic treatment to prevent any problems. She has always been stored out of the water and has benefited from comprehensive annual maintenance by her two very knowledgeable owners. Although currently out of commission, preparing her for long distance sailing adventures would be simple as she is a virtual turn key operation. Further details of construction, outfitting and refit are available.

AIRLIA: 44' x 30' 6" x 11' 8" x 6' 4", 15 T displacement, Yanmar diesel 4J8G (44 hp), which pushes her along easily at 1700 rpm with an economical fuel consumption.

AIRLIA is an American flag documented vessel for sale at $128,500, a fraction of her replacement cost, which represents exceptional value for a purchaser. She has a RCD Exempt Certificate which enables her to sail legally in the EU. She is currently insured and a May 2006 survey attesting to her condition and value is available to a prospective purchaser. She is currently stored on Martha's Vineyard in the middle of New England's finest cruising area.
